Caden is crawling!!

18 Apr

As of Thursday night, just 4 days shy of 8 months old Caden started crawling. He is still getting the hang of it, so he isn’t taking off just yet, but i am sure that is soon to come. Time to baby proof the house…oh gosh! :)

He has been getting close to crawling for the past few weeks, but on Thursday night his Aunt Mia was in town and we let him stay up late to play with her. She must have done the trick, because within minutes on the floor he was crawling to his toys. He is such a show off!!

I am so happy that Chris and I both got to see it and got to tape it. I had a little too much fun making him crawl more and more! :) But if you see at the end, he finally did get his duck! HA!

Enjoy the video!

Australian Commodity

03 Feb

gr200timtamsWhen I was in Sydney, Australia I learned very quickly that Tim Tams are THE BEST cookie I have and will EVER taste. They are available in Sydney like Tostitos Chips are available in the states or like Blue Bell Ice Cream is available in Texas. And if I were to become the Island Caretaker of Hamilton Island I would stock my pantry with Tim Tams from the local Woolworths.

First day on the job…..

30 Jan

Since I heard about the Island Caretaker position I have been thinking about what I would do first if I did get the job. And this is what I came up with:

As soon as I arrived at the Blue Pearl, took in the views and put my luggage down; mantaraysI would blog about my long, easy, successful and VERY exciting trip to the great state of Queensland. I would tell my readers to stay tuned for a report on one of the Islands fabulous restaurants. Then with Chris and Caden in tow, I would hop in the golf buggy and head to The Manta Ray Cafe or another local dine for some true Aussie Cuisine. Of course stopping and meeting locals on the way is a must.

After a nice relaxing Aussie meal I am sure we would want to rest up from the long trip and get ready for our first assignment from Tourism Queensland. Maybe in the first day I could expect to adhere to any media interviews that are wanted. I would tell them that my top picks for the next day would be to go snorkeling, bushwalking, have a BBQ for my new Aussie friends (kids welcome of course), or eat breakfast at Koala Cafe.koala450j

If Chris and I do go snorkeling or bushwalking or just want to explore on our own Caden would either be watched by one of Hamilton Islands top Au-Pairs or we could let him enjoy the educational childcare that The Clownfish Club has to offer.

I think that would be an action packed first day. And the days to come would offer even more outrageous, fun adventures.

Just in case you may be a bit skeptical in giving me 5 stars, here are some reasons as to why anything less than 5 stars should just be unthinkable! :)

I know…you are thinking they would be crazy to take a new mom, but little do they know that Caden would look absolutely amazing on the pristine beaches of the Islands of the Great Barrier Reef. And the rules do say that people could come with the winner, so Chris and Caden could enjoy the adventure as well! With both of us scuba certified and Chris being an amateur photographer we really are a good fit as a team! Plus, we would employ one of Queensland’s fabulous nannies so Chris and I could explore! Its a win:win!

In college, I took off to Sydney, Australia for 4 months. Wasn’t sure what I was going to do there or where I was going to live, but it was one of the best experiences of my life. I long to have a sense of adventure in each an every day! This job would be the perfect opportunity to do something amazing and exciting every day!

This really is a dream job for me. It lets me travel, explore, talk and write about my exciting adventures and have fun while I work! And I am a great fit for many reasons; with a degree in Communications, a minor in Public Relations, work experience that includes writing press releases, conducting interviews, interfacing with media contacts, and developing marketing collateral for many event and fund raising campaigns I am a the person that Tourism Queensland is looking for. I am also athletic and have high endurance, after all I was a collegiate volleyball player. Not to mention I love a new adventure, am a risk taker at heart, love to swim and enjoy the outdoors so much that I camped out of a tent for a month!

And if your worrying about never seeing The Mechsner’s again if I do get the job…don’t worry. It is only a 6 month position! We will be back!

Now if that isn’t enough reason to go here and give me 5 stars than I don’t know what is!
